ในระดับประชาชนคนท้องถิ่นนั้น บุหงาซีเระนิยมแห่ในขบวนแห่ขันหมากงานแต่งงาน และขบวนเข้าสุนัต ในกลุ่มชาวมลายูปตานี และชาวไทยมุสลิมในบางพื้นที่ของสงขลา เช่นแถบลุ่มน้ำทะเลสาบสงขลา
