The Eight Styles is known in Thai as “Phra Rajaniyom” (Royal Favour). Her Majesty Queen Sirikit and her aides had research conducted into historical records of royal dresses to develop and promote the eight styles of national costumes. Differences in form, fabric and levels of formality characterize each style.
