Khon Dance Drama by Thai Kids 🇹🇭

'Sammanakha Starts War'

สำมนักขาก่อศึก

Khon Masked Dance Performance by Thai Kids at Ayutthaya World Heritage Fair 2023

Nang Sammanakha (Surpanakha) is a yaksha (demon) lady character who is Thosakanth's (Ravana) younger sister.

Khon masked dance and Thai classical dances have had a strong influence on neighboring Cambodia. During the period when Cambodia was under Siamese rule, Cambodian kings invited dancers from Siam to teach Cambodian performers in the royal court. As a result, Cambodian dances appear to be a copied version of Thai dances.
